Flight operations hit in Delhi, Hyderabad

Flight Operations Impacted in Delhi and Hyderabad Due to Dense Fog; Passengers Notified

Travelers are encouraged to stay well-informed and to reach out to their respective airlines for the latest updates on their flights

New Delhi: Today, dense fog disrupted flight operations at the Delhi airport, reducing visibility in certain areas of the national capital to zero. Passengers are urged to get in touch with their respective airlines for the latest updates on their flights.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a temperature drop to 9.4 degrees Celsius in Delhi. Visibility in several parts of the capital sharply declined to only 125 meters, leading to extensive disruptions in daily activities. The National Capital Region (NCR) also experienced the impact of dense fog, causing reduced visibility throughout many areas.

As the cold intensifies its hold on the national capital, residents sought refuge in night shelters scattered across different parts of the city. Similar scenes unfolded in various areas, where locals gathered around fires in the Lodhi Road vicinity to find comfort amid the biting cold.

Footage captured from prominent locations like Lodhi Road, Munirka, RK Puram, and Ring Road near AIIMS depicted a thick layer of fog blanketing the surroundings.

On Monday, the air quality in the national capital remained categorized as ‘very poor.’ According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) hovered around 400.

Flight services in southern India were also impacted, with Vistara declaring the diversion of multiple flights. Six flights traveling from Hyderabad to Delhi had to be redirected due to the prevailing fog.
